Finally! The media is talking about the real causes of death. It’s not terrorism, immigrants or the Russians. It’s heart disease and cancer. How boring, eh? And that’s the problem. You can’t sell these stories. At the same time, we’ve been taught to avoid “truthiness”. So, we’re stuck in this feedback loop. Is it any wonder we don’t know the first thing about how to deal with pandemics? Capitalist media needs to distract people away from the real problems of society. Seeing past the deception is the first step. But unless we build a society on reality, things will never change.
